East China Jiaotong University(ECJTU)is an education and research university focusing on engineering and technology. It is located in the heroic city of Nanchang, which has enjoyed a reputation for being richly endowed with natural resources and talents since ancient times. In 1971, the State Council, Central Military Commission approved to combine the School of Locomotive of Shanghai Jiaotong University with the School of Railway Engineering of Tongji University to become Shanghai Railway Institute and it was moved to Jiangxi Province, renamed as East China Jiaotong University and had been affiliated to the Railway Ministry of China . In March of 2000, ECJTU was reformed to be co-sponsored by both central and provincial governments(mainly by the local government).
